DayVista privacy policy

DayVista is provided by Bray App ("Bray App", "we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains how DayVista accesses and handles information when you use the app.

Summary

DayVista is a local-first Windows activity tracker. The app does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, telemetry, or cloud synchronisation. Activity information is processed and stored on your Windows device. DayVista does not send that activity information to Bray App or to third parties.

Information DayVista accesses and stores

To build your activity timeline, DayVista accesses information about the foreground application and the state of your Windows session. Depending on your settings, the app may store:

• the date, start and end times, duration, and local time-zone offset of an activity segment;
• whether the device was active, idle, locked, disconnected, suspended, paused, or subject to an exclusion rule;
• the process name and application name of the foreground application; and
• the foreground window title, if title capture is enabled.

Window titles can contain personal or sensitive information, such as document names, website titles, email subjects, project names, or customer details. DayVista may temporarily inspect a process identifier and executable path to identify the foreground application, but it does not store the process identifier or executable path in the activity history.

DayVista also stores the settings and privacy rules you choose, limited runtime state used for crash recovery, and local records describing exports (such as the date range, destination path, and number of rows). It does not copy the contents of exported files back into the database.

If DayVista cannot start, it may create a local diagnostic log containing the time, error type, error message, and stack trace. This technical information may incidentally contain a local file path or Windows user-folder name. Structured capture diagnostics omit window titles by default. If you explicitly enable diagnostic titles, diagnostics that you copy to the clipboard may include the current captured window title.

How the information is used

DayVista uses locally processed information only to:

• create and display your personal activity timeline and daily totals;
• apply your pause, privacy, exclusion, title-suppression, alias, and redaction choices;
• create CSV exports when you request them;
• apply the retention period you select; and
• maintain app reliability, including recovery after an unexpected shutdown and local troubleshooting.

DayVista is not intended to collect health, financial, or other highly sensitive information. However, such information could appear incidentally in a window title. You can disable title capture or use the privacy controls described below.

Storage and security

Activity history, settings, privacy rules, and runtime state are stored in the DayVista data folder under your local Windows application-data directory. The activity database and database backups created during a migration are encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305 using a random 256-bit key. Windows Data Protection protects that key for the current Windows user.

These safeguards protect data at rest, but anyone who can use your signed-in Windows account may be able to view information through DayVista or access an unlocked export. You are responsible for securing your Windows account and device.

CSV files are created only when you request an export and are stored in the folder you select. DayVista does not encrypt exported CSV files. Files copied, backed up, synchronised, or shared by Windows or another application are controlled by you and by the relevant service. Information copied to the Windows clipboard is likewise outside DayVista's control after it is copied.

Sharing and disclosure

DayVista does not upload, sell, rent, or share your activity history, window titles, settings, or exports. The app contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

Microsoft independently processes information relating to Microsoft Store downloads, licensing, payments, app reliability, and Windows diagnostics under Microsoft's terms, privacy statement, and your Windows privacy settings. DayVista does not add its own telemetry to those platform services. Microsoft may provide Bray App with Store reports, such as acquisition or reliability information. This policy does not govern Microsoft's processing; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Your choices and controls

DayVista provides the following controls:

• pause tracking, including for a selected duration;
• enable privacy mode to stop storing window titles while tracking continues;
• disable window-title capture globally;
• create per-application rules to exclude an application, hide its titles, replace its displayed name with an alias, or redact selected title text;
• exclude titles and other fields from CSV exports;
• review your activity in the app or export it to CSV;
• choose automatic retention of 90, 180, or 365 days, or unlimited retention; and
• use Delete all activity to remove activity segments from the active local database. App settings are retained.

When an application is excluded, DayVista retains only generic excluded time so that daily totals remain complete; it does not retain that application's identity or window title for the excluded segment.

Deleting activity from DayVista does not delete CSV exports, clipboard copies, files you shared or backed up, or encrypted database backups previously created during a migration. You must delete those separately. Uninstalling DayVista may not remove data stored in its local application-data folder. To remove all local DayVista files, use the in-app deletion control where applicable, delete exports and backups you no longer want, and remove the DayVista data folder after closing or uninstalling the app.

Retention

By default, activity history is retained locally until you delete it or select an automatic retention period. Settings remain until you change them or remove the DayVista data folder. Exported files and diagnostic logs remain until you delete them using Windows or another file-management tool.

Contacting support

If you email support, Bray App receives your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to respond to your request, troubleshoot the issue, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Do not send activity exports, window titles, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your support request and you are comfortable sharing it.

Support correspondence may be processed by Bray App's email service provider and retained only as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, record-keeping, and legal purposes. You may request access to or deletion of your support correspondence, subject to applicable legal requirements, by using the contact address below.

Children's privacy

DayVista is a general-audience productivity application and is not directed to children. Bray App does not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app because the app does not transmit activity information to Bray App.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when DayVista's features, data practices, or legal requirements change. We will update the date at the top of this policy. The version made available with DayVista or through its Microsoft Store listing will be the current version.
